Our integration with Tableau enables you to visualize and analyze your Measure channel metrics as a structured dataset in Tableau, allowing you to uncover actionable insights across your social channels.
You can export up to 40 Measure and 40 Publish metrics for up to 60 channels.
Connecting your Tableau account to SMM
To set up the Tableau integration for your SMM organization, you will first need to set up the integration via our Integration marketplace in your SMM settings, then generate your SMM API key and complete the connection in your Tableau account.
Setup in SMM
Follow the steps below to being setting up the integration in SMM:
In the lower-left corner of SMM, select Manage settings (gear icon) > Organization admin.
Select Integration marketplace from the left-hand Settings sidebar.
Select the Tableau tile in the Integration marketplace.
On the Tableau details page, click Connect now.
Read the disclaimer, then click Next.
From the channels picker, select the SMM channels (up to 60) you would like to include in your dataset.
From the metrics picker, select the channel and content metrics (up to 40 each) you would like to include in your dataset, then click Next.
Review the summary of your setup, then click Finish.
The Connections Manager page will open and provide you REST API URLs to copy and paste to Tableau. Click Copy next to your channel metrics and content metrics to copy the URLs to your clipboard and paste them into a notepad for easy access as you complete the integration.
Note: We recommend copying and pasting the URLs for channel metrics and content metrics separately.
Generating your SMM API key
On the Tableau details page, you can use the Create API key shortcut to generate your SMM API key. We recommend copying your SMM API key to your clipboard and pasting it temporarily into a notepad for easy access as you complete the integration.

Completing the connection in your Tableau account
Once you have completed the integration setup in SMM and generated your API key, complete the following steps in your Tableau account:
In Tableau, click More... in the left-hand navigation sidebar, then search for “rest api”.
In the REST API URL field, paste your REST API URL you copied from SMM for your metrics, then insert your SMM API key into the URL after “apikey=” in the URL.
Fill out the remaining fields, then click Sign in to complete the integration.
Once the connection is complete, your Measure metrics will be ingested into Tableau according to your integration setup.
