By combining Measure’s data with Looker Studio’s visualization tools, you can gain even deeper insights into your organization’s social media strategy. In this article, learn how to set up Brandwatch’s connectors in Looker Studio to supercharge your own reporting.
What is Looker Studio?
Google’s Looker Studio is a data visualization platform that allows you to “quickly build interactive reports and dashboards” from data provided by third-party partners, or “connectors.”
There are two connectors from Measure:
- The Brandwatch SMM Channel Connector, which provides channel data.
- The Brandwatch SMM Content connector, which provides content data.
You can set up either or both of these connectors to view your Measure data in Looker Studio.
Connecting Looker Studio to Social Media Management
Note:
Before you begin, please make sure you have your Social Media Management API key on hand. It can be found in Social Media Management under Settings > Organization admin > Integration marketplace > API. You must be an Admin to access these settings.
For detailed instructions, please visit Getting Access to Social Media Management APIs.
- Log into your Looker Studio account.
- Click the Create button in the upper left corner of the page, then select Data source.
- Search for and select either the Brandwatch SMM Channel Connector (to connect your channel data) or the Brandwatch SMM Content Connector (to connect your content data).
Note:
Once you're finished setting up one connector, you can repeat these steps to set up the other. You can use the same API key for both connectors.
- (Optional) Click the connector's name in the upper left corner of the page to rename it.
- Enter your Social Media Management API key.
- Set your Parameters. Parameters determine which Measure metrics the connector will make available to Looker Studio.
- Click the Connect button in the upper right corner of the page.
Once you’re done, Looker Studio will automatically load the data viewer. This is where you can view and manage your data fields, or dimensions (channel name, content type, metric value, etc.), before creating a new report. Depending on the size of the request, loading the data viewer may take a minute or two—please be patient and do not refresh or navigate away from the page until it’s done.
