Use the Extract functionality in Looker Studio

Our connectors by default maintain a live connection to Brandwatch via the API endpoints we have built into the connectors. This live connection makes sure, that every time you update a dashboard or report, you use the latest data.

When you want to do an in-depth analysis and you want super fast response within Looker Studio, you can use the built-in Extract tool in Looker Studio to get a selected data set for a specific time frame loaded straight into your Looker Studio instance and stored there.

This method will provide you almost instantaneous experience playing with social media data you retrieved from Brandwatch SMM.

To use the Extract functionality, follow the guide provided by Looker Studio here: Extract data for faster performance.

The first steps look like this:

  1. In the connectors list, select Extract Data.

  2. Select the already configured Brandwatch connectors as existing data source to extract from.

  3. Select the dimensions and metrics to extract by dragging them from the Available Fields list onto the targets, or by clicking Add. All the fields you add appear in the list on the far right.

  4. Apply a date range. Date ranges are required by some connectors, such as Analytics, but are optional for other connector types.

  5. In the lower right, click SAVE AND EXTRACT.
