What is an ad creative?
An ad creative is a collection of visual and text elements used to build an ad, including images, videos, call-to-action buttons, and links. In Advertise, you can customize ad creatives when creating a new Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn ad.
Please note that the network, campaign objective, and other settings may affect which creative elements are available for your ad. For example, the Facebook ad below belongs to an ad set that optimizes video views, so its ad creative must include a video.
What is a dynamic creative?
Dynamic creatives are ad creatives that automatically mix and match their elements to optimize the ad for different audiences. For example, LinkedIn's dynamic creatives can personalize your ad for each viewer, autofilling it with their name and profile picture.
Facebook and Instagram's dynamic creatives allow for even greater customization. For example, a a Facebook ad with a dynamic creative may show one caption to Person A, but another caption to Person B. They can also automatically crop or resize your media for different placements (Reels, Stories, Feeds, etc.), turn images into videos, cycle between call-to-action buttons, and more.
While it's not yet possible to use dynamic creatives in Social Media Management, any "dynamic ads" you publish natively will still be indexed in the platform, and they may behave differently from normal ads.
What are template posts?
For Facebook and Instagram ads specifically, dynamic creatives always result in multiple variations of a single ad—which means the ad will generate not just one promoted post, but many. In Social Media Management, we call these template posts.
