Creating and Managing Stock Items in the Content Pool

Uploading stock items in the Content Pool allows you to inspire your team, organize your unused assets, and apply directions towards the use of content intended for the future. See our Content Pool Introduction article to get a full overview of the Content Pool's features. 

Below, find out how to create, edit, and delete stock items in the Content Pool.

Tip:

As long as your assets meet Publish's media requirements, you can store an unlimited number of assets in the Content Pool.


Creating a Single Stock Item

To create new stock items in the Content Pool, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click Create New Stock from the top-right corner of the Content Pool.
  2. From the dropdown, click Single.mceclip0__7_.png
  3. Upload an image or video, or enter text in the field below. If you enter a link, Social Media Management will attempt to display the title, description, and available thumbnails where possible.
  4. Optional: Add an embargo and/or expiration date to specify when the stock item can be used.
  5. Optional: Above the media, click to edit the title of the stock item. Social Media Management will populate a title for you based on the file name or text entered.mceclip1__8_.png
  6. Click Create Stock.mceclip2__4_.png

Your stock item will be added to the Content Pool, ready to be utilized by your colleagues for new content. To edit or remove media while creating a new stock item, hover over the media and select either the pencil icon or the trash icon.


Creating Stock Items in Bulk

To create multiple stock items in the Content Pool, please follow the steps below.

  1. Click Create New Stock from the top-right corner of the Content Pool.
  2. From the dropdown, click Multiple.
  3. Select any number of images or videos to upload.
  4. Optional: To the right of each item, add text.
  5. Optional: To the right of each item, add labels. You can also click Add labels to all stock to apply labels in bulk.
  6. Optional: Above each item, click to customize the title. By default, the title will appear as the file name which was uploaded.mceclip5__1_.png
  7. From the bottom right, click Create Stocks.mceclip4.png

All new stock items will be added to the Content Pool, ready to be utilized by your colleagues for new content.

To edit or remove media while adding stock items in bulk, hover over the media and select either the pencil icon or the trash icon.


Editing Stock Items and Assets

To edit your existing stock items, you can get started by clicking the item to expand and see all related information.

Here, you can choose to rename the stock item, add additional media files, or add labels, notes, or embargo/expiration dates. You can also make edits to each individual asset by clicking on the context menu (three dots) on the top right.

You can also choose to download each individual asset to your device by clicking the context menu (three dots) followed by Download.

Note:

Editing a stock item will impact the item for all users in your organization.


Deleting Stock Items and Assets

To delete an entire stock item (including all associated information such as assets, notes, and labels), locate the stock item from the home page of the Content Pool and click the context menu (three dots) followed by Delete.

To delete an asset from any stock item, click to open the stock item. Next, locate the asset you would like to delete then click the context menu (three dots) followed by Delete.

Editing and Deleting in Bulk

By hovering over any stock item, you can check the box shown on the top left of the stock "card". Checking the box of stock items will allow you to either delete or manage the labels of multiple stock items at once.

Once you have checked all applicable stock items, navigate to the top of the page and select either Delete or Manage Labels.

If you select Manage Labels, you will have the option to add labels, replace labels, find and remove specific labels, or remove all labels on all selected stock items.
